no it does not -Dan
Does car armor weigh the car down and make it slower?
I have been wondering this for a very long time and have been unable to find a definitive answer. Does anyone know?

In that topic, I posted a very long bit about what I have noticed with the "details" of vehicle modifications and how they affect vehicles... I will also add that after this update, I have noticed that they have changed how vehicle weight effects the how the vehicle drives... My Patriot now drives like it is 500 lbs heavier, but I don't think it is necessarily a weight change... I think it is more a change in the "equations" that calculate the weight transfer when braking, etc... Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but, yes, this game has way more detail programmed into it than people realize... The only reason I see it is because that's what I do in real life; I pay attention to the small details of everything, that others don't, looking for patterns and differences...
Brian B has said in a topic before that yes armor does in fact increase weight and decrease top speed slightly.

Is there another post around here that you know of that confirmed or denied all the stuff that I mentioned in that other post about effects of vehicle parts...? Could you post a link to it if so...?
Note you can remove the armor from your vehicles for a small fee at LSC. I have a sports and super un-armored for racing only, and use mostly my maxxed Sultan for everyday use - it's $126 or something if I destroy it. Depends how much money you have and how serious you are I guess ....
For me, I keep the 100% armor because I tend to use my vehicles at random, not just for one purpose or the other... Also, I crash a lot sometimes, and the armor will prevent the vehicle from taking crippling body damage through several major crashes... Without armor, one major crash will crumple fenders, pinch tires, etc, crippling the vehicle... Respawning will fix it though...
You ain't crazy as I have noticed a change in the handling of the cars I own.
Thank you, anglosaxon_33, for letting me know I'm not crazy (lol)... Also, woohoo for me getting my first checkmarked answer... Doesn't do much to make up for all the other :/ things I have posted here, but it is nice to see... :D
