Terms and causes of being banned from Multiplayer in Red Read Redemption

Question: When I try to play Red Dead Redemption online, an error message says "Your gamer profile is banned from Red Dead Redemption multiplayer." Why was I banned? What can I do? How long does the ban last?

Answer: On August 24, 2010, we started banning accounts from Multiplayer Red Dead Redemption whose save files had been modded/hacked.  Cheaters were warned on News Wire and through Press Releases during the weeks preceeding the ban to delete all hacked/modded save files by the August 24th deadline.

We are not banning players who have boosted gold guns through legitimate gameplay or who took advantage of temporary in-game exploits to gain XP quickly.

When writing, please provide your Gamertag or PSN ID.  Please note that we are not reversing bans on an individual bases if an account is confirmed on the ban list, since the data submitted from accounts provides hard evidence of save file modding.  Also note that changing one's Gamertag is not a workaround to play online using a banned account.

The latest ban list revision took place on February 14, 2012.

We have not yet announced the date of the next ban list revision.
