GTA 5 hanging on loading splash screen

I see this in the launcher logs. The Unsupported tm type keeps repeating and the file is 100+ MB:

I am getting the same error. the log file will never end, had one that was 500 mb.

I deleted everything for rockstar in my documents, used add/remove programs to repair installation, upgraded java, upgrade video drivers to beta. nothing

windows 8.1
radeon 280x (single card)
i7 3700
500 gb free space

Same here - exactly the same - [ ERROR ] Unsupported tm type! repeated over and over.

I found that creating an entirely new user account on my machine and using that allowed the game to launch (note that I don't have any funny characters in my username). Obviously not a permanent fix...

@awns729 Then got it working on a new user account.

Are you sure it wouldn't have just worked on a new user account without following those instructions first?

By the way, I've found another way of fixing this which worked for me.

Navigate to C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA V
And delete the following two files, if they're present:

launcher.telem

temp.telem

Yes, I tried that many times. After it worked on the new user account, I tried my original account but still got the same error.

Just to clarify, I had tried the new user account before even trying the checksum thing. That by itself didn't work, even after deleting the Rockstar Games folder in my Documents. So for me there were 2 issues: 1) Corrupt files (or something about redownloading that fixed the installation) and 2) Something related to my original user account (thought it had no speical characters, just A-Z). Hope this helps. I'll try deleting those 2 files you mentioned on my original user account to see if it starts working there too. Thanks for the tip.

I uninstall the game and social club and redownloaded all 60 gb and it now works. I remember using my computer a few days ago and it was acting really slow and had to reset. Maybe this was while files were unpacking or decrypting... .
