Report players for griefing? No rockstar...just no.

Halo series: Games about killing and mayhem. No punishment for killing players.

Battlefield series: Games about killing and mayhem. No punishment for killing players.

COD series: Games about killing and mayhem. No punishment for killing players.

GTA Online: A game about killing and mayhem. Killing a player may result in them reporting you for "griefing", potentially sending you into a lobby with hackers/mods/ and exploiters...

Rockstar please explain how this was a good idea...whatever happened to just joining another lobby or starting a invite only session to get away from the players who piss you off? What about using passive mode? Why is GTA turning into a yoga, friendship is magic no violence allowed fairy festival?

You comparing 3 FPS games with a GTA-like open world game... your comparaison and conclusion are totaly pointless

GTAO is where people usually hang about doing bounties, customizing things, and taking strolls on different degrees. GTAO has several activities compared to the other games you've listed and is not solely based on player killing. There will always be a person that does not enjoy being in fights all the time so if you choose to continually kill him, he does have the right to report you for griefing.

If you want to continuously kill people deathmatches are a better option.

All the games I mentioned are about killing and mayhem...who cares if its FPS or open world...apples and oranges.

no wonder you compare bullpony, obviously you don't even know what you are playing at, i'm sure you would play Tetris that you would look for people to kill.... the 3 first games you listed are shooter games!! The only goal in that game is to fight other players, which is absolutely not the case of GTA. GTA Online has a lot of activities which are not about killing the others.
I'm sure you are not even in age to play this game. I can't believe you are not even able to make the difference between a shooter game and an open world game.

but anyway he is right, or can you explain me this.....i see these kill messages all the time.....so the majority of players enjoy the free mode and enjoy to kill other players. because we got weapons....weapons supposed to use against others. mayhem.....yes, complete mayhem. We do not have a law...or something like rules, unwritten rules and R* judge on mood. those who do not like to get killed - for those is the option to run invite/solo/friends session not vice versa.

Im sure in RDR there was no punishment for killing players.

And not everyone likes deathmatches I personally like being in free roam doing what I please killing who I want getting in to big fights and whatever else and also if r* didn't want griefing they wouldn't of put tanks in free roam with a crappy passive mode where you can still be killed

i laughed when i saw the options under report, yet again reminds me of another game (you report me for killing you i'll report you back)

any way FredKiIler is right comparing 3 FPS to a GTA type game doesn't work, so
APB- a game about cops vs robbers, a lot of customization, taking strolls, hanging out with others, killing and mayhem. no punishments

Im not even comparing GTA to the other games based on open world/ fps whatever i dont care. Im just pointing about the fact that players shouldnt be punished for killing in a game with guns, killing and destruction.

Majority of the players most likely enjoy fighting it out. Its just that sometimes a person may choose to constantly kill a player who is not in the majority. On various occasions, too much of anything can have negative consequence. Player killing is no exception.

Sometimes, people don't like to go to invite session for the fact they become excluded from interacting with other players.

Normally I send players a message saying "Can you go away please, I just want to play the game" and if they ignore that then I vote to kick them and report them for griefing.

Yes you can enable Passive Mode or Join New Session but they could be interferring with something that you're doing and you don't want to leave it.

So stupid. There are rules and laws. There are COPS that come after you for shooting people. I suppose you don't think there are laws in real life too, huh?

Where did you see that you get punished when you kill others btw? it's not because you can report other players that you can report for anything you want... in the report list doesn't appear the fact of killing. Rockstar probably investigates the reports, they will see if the report is right or wrong.
If you get reported by killing others i don't think you have to worry, unless you are cheating, glitching or killing someone on passive mode or in a shop or anything not "fairplay".

I'd have to slighly disagree..but I see your point. Gtao isn't about JUST killing (players) and mayhem. It's about EVERYTHING.

The way I look at it..I can kill anyone for any reason on a wim, but to continuously kill a player over and over and over when clearly he/she can not compete is not justified..UNLESS he/she started with you first and/or keeps approaching you.

i give a pony if someone reports me.
thats exactly what i am talking about, they gave us the ability to kill persons at any time on nearly any place, and i cannot remember thats its prohibited to kill someone in passive mode. a clearly 'law' is missing in the game, we have this in real life and if you do not obey you have to accept the consequences.
not so in gta......

well, cheating and stuff this is ofcourse worth to report and votekick. but not to kill someone, or this bad sports for destroy someones vehicle - this is complete lame.

From Wikipedia, since I don't feel like defining it myself.
"Griefing is the act of chronically causing grief to other members of an online community, or more specifically, intentionally disrupting the immersion of another player in their gameplay."
I'll report someone for griefing if they're being a griefer. Let them play with the others.

hellooo ? the other one could say the same from his point of view he play the game as well, and if you login in a public session you can expect to get killed from someone without a reason.
btw what is the sense then? its all about races, deathmatches, the games (tennis darth etc), parachute....free mode killing is also a part of it. so pointless.

thats only natural to choose the weakest :P

and no, cops do not come when you stab someone with the knife :P or snipe someone from a half mile away.
ingame law ;) where is it? can you provide a link?

Killing other players in shooters isn't griefing because it's what the games are about. GTAO is an open-world sandbox game with various activities, some passive, others aggressive. Killing other players in free mode is only fair IF they choose to take part in it as well, but killing those who want to be left alone whilst they do something passive like modding a car, etc, is griefing, and ANY form of griefing in ANY game is worthy of punishment.

Those who do not consider the damage they are doing to other people's experience and/or feelings, should not be welcome in any community. Either respect other players or deal with the consequences. Only that it fair.

Deathmatch is the best place to kill people, it's a fight, not some cowards sucker punching people and thinking they're good fighters.

@ScarfaceM4 All the games I mentioned are about killing and mayhem...who cares if its FPS or open world...apples and oranges.

BECAUSE - those FPS games are in confined spaces with not much else to do - the goal is to kill - its ALWAYS a deathmatch

GTAO is in huge playing field - dynamic, full of choices with many OTHER things to do - players COULD make friends here, but its nearly impossible as everyone is focused on killing
