Not getting extra fame with the Golden Guns add-on
Last Updated: October 3, 2024
Question: I used a pre-order code or downloaded the Golden Guns for Red Dead Redemption. The help text says that I am supposed to get extra fame but the amount of fame seems to be the same compared with not having the Golden Guns. What's the problem?
Answer: We have received some reports about fame not working properly for Golden Guns and we would like to clarify the intended functionality. Note that there may not be any in-game indicators that you are getting more fame, but our local tests have confirmed that fame is increasing correctly for both the pre-order and DLC versions of these items.
The Golden Guns give extra fame per kill when one of the golden weapons is equipped and the following rules also apply.
Fame bonuses do not apply to other non-gold weapons.
This bonus only applies to kills and not to fame gained from random events or missions.
Golden Gun fame only applies to criminals and law killed outside of story missions.
During story missions kill fame is suppressed and added all at once.
This only works with the golden Cattleman & Repeater in the R*-Code version of the Golden Guns.
This works with any gun that is currently golden in the premium DLC version of the Golden Guns.
