How to resolve errors in the Rockstar Games Launcher for Grand Theft Auto V on PC

Question: When trying to run GTAV on PC, I am getting one of the following errors:

• Rockstar Games Launcher failed to initialize.

• Rockstar Games Launcher failed to load due to an incomplete installation. Please exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Rockstar Games Launcher.

• A newer version of the Rockstar Games Launcher is required. The updater may have failed. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Rockstar Games Launcher.

How can I resolve this issue?

Answer: This issue can be resolved using the following steps:

1. Download and install the Rockstar Games Launcher:

   • https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/rockstar-games-launcher

2. Sign in with your Rockstar Games account

3. Click your avatar in the top right

4. Select Redeem Code

5. Enter your Rockstar Activation Code into the field

Important: Review the details at the bottom of the screen to ensure that you are activating the code on the correct Rockstar Games account. All Rockstar Activation Codes are one-time-use codes and their contents will be permanently applied to the Rockstar Games account that is signed into the Rockstar Games Launcher when redeemed.

Note: A valid internet connection is required for code redemption.

1. Select the Check button to validate the code is entered correctly

2. Select the checkbox at the bottom of the list to verify the items your account will receive on activation

3. Select Redeem

The Rockstar Activation Code will then be redeemed on the account and your game will appear in under Games.
