Last Updated: April 29, 2024
Question: How can I change my language in GTAV?
Answer: Below you can find how to select the language for your platform. For console versions, language in GTAV depends on your console language setting. If your console language is not supported in GTAV you will be prompted to select a language when starting the game. If you would like to reset the language after the game has already saved follow the steps below.
PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One:
The language in-game matches the console language and needs to be changed in the console's System Settings
Xbox 360:
Hold LB + RB while booting the game
PlayStation 3:
Hold L1 + R1 while booting the game, or clear your game data (NOT save data) from the PS3 Game Data Utility in the PS3 XMB (system menu)
PC - Steam:
Go to the location where you’ve installed GTAV via Steam
(Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V)
Locate and run the program called GTAVLanguageSelect.exe
Note: depending on your system preferences you may not see the .exe extension
When the GTAV Language Switcher loads, you’ll see a list of all the supported languages, as well as an option to use the language setup via steam
Select the one you would like and click ‘Update and Close’ or ‘Update and Run’
(Update and Run will change the language and launch the game)
PC - Rockstar Games Launcher:
Start the Rockstar Games Launcher
Select Settings from the main menu
Select your preferred language under General > Language
Select Games
Launch GTAV
PC - Epic Games Launcher:
Start the Epic Games Launcher
Navigate to the Library
Select Settings
Select your preferred language from the language drop-down
Launch GTAV
