Incompatibility between saved games between old and new GTA:VC PS2 discs

Question: When trying to load a saved game created on the original release of the game when using a newer disc (purchased approx November 2003 onwards) a message appears saying the saved game cannot be loaded or that it may be corrupted.  What happened?

Answer: Due to changes made to the code of the game it is not possible to use an old version saved game on a newer version of the game. It would not be possible to implement the changes imposed on the game and maintain the integrity of the saved game. The original saved game would have content and references to content that had to be edited or removed, hence the two versions are incompatible.
