Rockstar Games Error Code 6000.87

Last Updated: September 18, 2025

Question: Whenever I attempt to launch the Rockstar Games Launcher, I receive the following error. What can I do to resolve it?

  • Online sign in failed. We were unable to fallback to offline sign in because you have not previously signed in on this machine. Offline play is only available for accounts that have previously signed in on this machine (with “Remember me” ticked) while connected to the Internet and while Rockstar Games Services are available. #6000.87

Answer: This error occurs when there is a network connection issue between your PC and Rockstar Game Services.

Check the Rockstar Game Service Status

If any of the Rockstar Games Online Services are down, please wait until services resume before attempting to log in again.

Refresh your local profile

If the Rockstar Game Service Status page indicates that all services are Up, there may be an issue with your local profile communicating with Rockstar Games servers. You can refresh your local profile by doing the following:

  1. Start the Rockstar Games Launcher

  2. Click Settings

  3. Click Account Information

  4. Go to “Delete local profile” and click Delete

  5. Sign in again via the Rockstar Games Launcher

Note: The above steps will delete the profile details stored on your computer, and require that you sign in to your Rockstar Games account again via the Rockstar Games Launcher. This will not delete your Rockstar Games account or any saved games. Your local profile details will be recovered when you sign in to Rockstar Games.

Troubleshooting connection issues

If refreshing your local profile does not resolve the error, there may be an issue with your IP configuration:

Check your open network ports

Rockstar Games Launcher requires the following ports to be open:

  • Port 6672 (UDP)

  • Port 61455 (UDP)

  • Port 61457 (UDP)

  • Port 61456 (UDP)

  • Port 61458 (UDP)

Change your Domain Name Servers (DNS)

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Network and Internet

  3. Under Advanced network settings, click on Change adapter options

  4. Right-click on your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, depending on which you are currently using, then select Properties

  5. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and make sure the box is checked

  6. Click Properties

  7. Select Use the following DNS server

  8. Enter the following DNS addresses in their respective text box:

    • Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8

    • Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

  9. Select Validate settings upon exit

  10. Click OK

  11. Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and make sure the box is checked

  12. Click Properties

  13. Enter the following DNS addresses in their respective text box:

    • Preferred DNS server: 2001:4860:4860::8888

    • Alternate DNS server: 2001:4860:4860::8844

  14. Select Validate settings upon exit

  15. Click OK

Reset your network router

You can reset your router by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for about 10 minutes. Once you plug your router back in and can connect to the internet, restart the Rockstar Games Launcher and check to see if your issue is resolved.
