Unable to enter Grand Theft Auto Online on the Xbox app on PC

Question: Why can’t I access Grand Theft Auto Online on the Xbox app on PC?

Answer: Grand Theft Auto Online can become unavailable if the Xbox privacy & online safety settings are set up to disable multiplayer and cross-network play.

Note: Cross-network play only applies to gameplay between PC platforms (Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, Epic Games Launcher, the Xbox app on PC, etc.). Players on PC cannot play with players on console.

To access GTA Online, you need to enable the following settings by using the steps below:

Enabling You can join multiplayer games

  1. Open the Xbox app on PC

  2. Select Profile & settings

    • Your profile icon

  3. Select Settings

  4. Under Account, locate Privacy Settings and select MANAGE

  5. Select Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online Safety

  6. Locate You can join multiplayer games

  7. Select Allow

  8. Select Submit

Enabling You can join cross-network play

  1. Open the Xbox app on PC

  2. Select Profile & settings

    • Your profile icon

  3. Select Settings

  4. Under Account, locate Privacy Settings and select MANAGE

  5. Select Xbox and Windows 10 devices Online Safety

  6. Locate You can join cross-network play

  7. Select Allow

  8. Select Submit
