Corrupt save file message in GTA III: 10 Year Anniversary for Android

Last Updated: February 17, 2024

Question: Every time I try to load my save file it says that the file is corrupt.  I checked to make sure that my game was creating saves and it looks like all the save files are 0KB in size. How can I make sure my game saves and loads properly?

Answer: Here are a few things to try if your game does not seem to be saving or loading properly:

Clear Cache/Data

  • Android: Go to Settings->Apps->GTA III->Clear Cache and Clear Data.   Note that Clear Cache and Clear Data do not delete your save files and are safe to use.  Only uninstalling the game will delete the save files.

Redownload the Game After Making Space

  • iOS and Android: To rule out possible data corruption, delete the game from your Android device and then re-download it from the Android Market.  Be sure that there is enough space for the game (at least 1GB) and your signal is strong enough to complete the download on a reliable wi-fi connection.

If the game is still reporting corrupt save files, try starting a new game just as a test and proceed to save the game.  If the new save file works but the originally one still won't load, there is a chance that the file has become corrupted.  This most often occurs if you lose power or crash for some reason while the game is in the middle of saving.
