Last Updated: April 12, 2024

Question: Whenever I attempt to launch GTAV on PC, I receive the following error:

  • The Rockstar Game Services are unavailable and offline play could not be verified (code 134). Please check your connection and try again later. https://support.rockstargames.com/

What can I do to resolve this?

Answer: The code 134 error may occur if your game version is not up to date. This is often due to a recent GTAV update which has not been applied. Depending on how you launch the game on PC, this can be solved using the following steps:

Rockstar Games Launcher

To verify the integrity of your game files in the Rockstar Games Launcher:

  1. Sign into the Rockstar Games Launcher

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Grand Theft Auto V from the My installed games list

  4. Select Verify Integrity from the options next to Verify game file integrity

Upon completion, a pop-up message will appear above the system tray stating that your game is verified and ready to play.

Steam

If using Steam, this issue may be resolved by verifying the integrity of the game files:

  1. Open Steam

  2. Right-click Grand Theft Auto V in your Steam library

  3. Click Properties

  4. Click the Local Files tab on the left sidebar

  5. Click Verify integrity of game files…

  6. Once Steam finishes this process, open GTAV

If the above does not work, you may have to reinstall GTAV through Steam:

  1. Open Steam

  2. Right-click Grand Theft Auto V in your Steam library

  3. Scroll over Manage and click Uninstall

  4. Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V folder on your computer and delete any folders and files located there

  5. Reinstall the game by clicking the Install button on the game’s landing page within your Steam library

  6. Open GTAV

Epic Games Launcher

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher

  2. Click Library on the left sidebar

  3. Find and click the three dots next to Grand Theft Auto V

  4. Click Uninstall

  5. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Epic Games\GTA folder on your computer and delete any files and folders there

  6. Restart the Epic Games Launcher and reinstall Grand Theft Auto V to your Library

  7. Open GTAV
