New Matchmaking Added to the Next Job Vote Screen in GTA Online

Question: Along with Title Update 1.17, I’ve noticed that I sometimes join a new lobby when picking a job on the Next Job Vote Screen. When joining the new lobby, I’m not always the lobby host, even if I was the lobby host for the previous job. Has additional matchmaking been added to the Next Job Vote Screen?

Answer: With Title Update 1.17, we’ve released a new feature that merges lobbies together who pick the same job on the Next Job Vote Screen at the same time. This allows for larger lobbies without the need for players to send out more invites. This new feature is controlled by two settings:

• The existing “Matchmaking” setting

  1. In the pause menu, go to the ONLINE tab. From there, select “Options”. As long as “Matchmaking” is set to “Open”, your lobby may merge with others who select the same job on the Next Job Vote Screen.

• A new setting, “Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen”

  1. This setting controls whether or not you’d like to remain the host of a lobby during matchmaking on the Next Job Vote Screen. When set to “Off”, host may migrate to another player if your lobbies are merged together. When set to “On”, you will remain host even during Next Job Vote Screen matchmaking; however, your lobby will merge with other players’ lobbies less frequently. This option is located on the same page as the option above.

Here is how the options work: 

**OFF - Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen**OFF - Matchmaking

After the Next Job Vote Screen, your session will not merge into another session, but if you create the session players will not be match made into it.

**ON - Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen**OFF - Matchmaking

After the Next Job Vote Screen your session may merge into another session, but if you create the session players will not be match made into it.

**OFF - Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen**ON - Matchmaking

After the Next Job Vote Screen your session will not merge into another session, but if you create the session players may be match made into it.

**ON - Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen**ON - Matchmaking

After the Next Job Vote Screen your session may merge into another session, but if you create the session players may be match made into it.

Note: These settings are always OFF if the host is from a private session.
