Question: I want to play Max Payne 3 in Portuguese but it's not working. How can I play in Portuguese?
Answer: Here are some possible reasons why Portuguese may not be working for you, along with a solution for each:
Console Set to Wrong Language
Check your console language setting to ensure that it is set to Portuguese. On PS3, be sure that it is set to "Portuguese (Brazil)" and not "Portuguese (Portugal)". Max Payne 3 supports Brazilian Portuguese only and if the console is set to Portugal the game will be in English.
Missing the Title Update
Portuguese was added to Max Payne 3 by the first Title Update (patch), which went live at launch on May 15, 2012. If you have only played offline in Single Player, you may be missing the Title Update. To get the Title Update, use the following steps:
Boot the game while connected to the internet and signed into the PlayStation Network or Xbox network
If you do not already have the patch, you will be prompted to download and install the update
Accept the update and then check to verify that Portuguese is appearing in the game
Playing the German Version
The German version of Max Payne 3 supports English and German only.
Note: Language settings in Max Payne 3 will change the interface language and also the subtitle language. The dialogue audio is always in English.
