Forcing a localized version of L.A. Noire for PC into a different language

Last Updated: April 2, 2024

Question: I have a localized version of L.A. Noire for PC and only one language is available. Can I play in a different language?

Answer: You may force the game into a different language through a command line parameter. How to do so depends on what platform you use to launch the game:

Rockstar Games Launcher

1. Navigate to the "commandline.txt" file located at C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Rockstar Games\L.A. Noire

  • If this file does not exist, you can create it by right-clicking in the above directory, selecting New and selecting Text Document. Name this file "commandline.txt"

2. In this text file, type "-L [language]"

  • The language value can be either "english", "french", "german", "italian", or "spanish" (e.g "-L english")

Steam

1. Right-click L.A. Noire in your Steam library

2. Click Properties

3. Under the General tab, scroll down to Launch Options

4. In this space, type "-L [language]"

  • The language value can be either "english", "french", "german", "italian", or "spanish" (e.g "-L english")

Note: Forcing the game into a different language may prevent some of the interface from appearing in menus.
