Clearing the Cache on your PS3 console

Last Updated: January 9, 2024

Question: How do I clear the system cache on my PS3?

Answer: Temporary files and data are often stored on the console to help the overall performance of the game. Unfortunately, these cached files can get corrupted over time which can lead to things like freezes, game loading errors or connectivity issues. Please Note: Performing these troubleshooting steps will not hinder your ability to play or delete any save data/progress you have currently made.

Steps:

  1. Power down the PS3 then power it back up

  2. While on the XMB navigate to the Game Section

  3. Scroll to and select Game Data Utility

  4. Scroll through the Game Data until you find Grand Theft Auto V, highlight it and press the Triangle Button

  5. An options menu will appear, select Delete and press X to confirm

  6. Hold L1 + R1 while booting up the game

Note: This will also reset your brightness setting and choice of language.
