Black screen after loading into Grand Theft Auto V on PC

Question: Whenever I select Story Mode on the main menu, the game loads for a long time before just freezing on a black screen. How do I fix this? 

Answer: To resolve this issue, try the following steps: 

Close, restart, and update the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  1. Close any Rockstar Games titles 

  2. Close the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  3. If you have the “Minimize to system tray on close” setting on, open your system tray, right-click the Rockstar Games Launcher icon, and click Exit 

  4. Relaunch the Rockstar Games Launcher and check if any updates are applied 

  5. Relaunch GTAV and attempt to load into Story Mode 

Uninstall and reinstall the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  1. Close any Rockstar Games titles 

  2. Navigate to the Rockstar Games Launcher installation folder 

  3. Default location: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher 

  4. Double-click the uninstall.exe file and uninstall the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  5. When asked to uninstall game data, leave the box unchecked 

  6. Restart your PC 

  7. Install the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  8. https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/rockstar-games-launcher 

  9. Open GTAV and attempt to load into Story Mode
