How to Record Clips and Access the Rockstar Editor in GTAV on PC

Last Updated: April 26, 2024

Question: How do I record clips of my GTA Online and Story Mode gameplay, and how do I access the Rockstar Editor to make edits to my recorded clips?

Answer: To start recording in GTA Online or Story Mode, press and hold the “Switch Characters” button. By default, hold down on the D-pad while using the controller or hold “Alt” on your keyboard. From there, you can follow the on-screen prompts that appear on the bottom left of your screen to record and stop recording clips. By default, F1 starts recording and F2 stops recording.

Once you’ve finished recording your clip, you can access the Rockstar Editor to make edits. First, be sure that you are in Story Mode as the menu option for the Rockstar Editor is not available in GTA Online. From there:

  • Pause the game

  • Scroll all the way to the rightmost tab, “Rockstar Editor”

  • Launch the editor from this tab

  • You will be able to select “Clip Management” screen from here and make changes to the clips you’ve recorded in GTA Online or Story Mode.
