Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary download freezing or failing
Last Updated: April 6, 2024
Question: Every time I try to download GTA III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition it fails and stops at a certain percentage. Sometimes I get an error message saying that the download cannot be completed. When I go to patch the game, it doesn't download all the files and the game crashes at boot. What can I do to fix this?
Answer: If your game or patch download is consistently failing, please try the following steps:
Reboot your device
Remove the GTA III application
Make some room on your device (we have heard in some cases up to 1GB is needed)
Ensure you have the latest device OS and firmware updates
Connect to a reliable wi-fi connection if 4G wasn't working previously (or try a different wi-fi connection if yours was timing out)
Re-attempt the download and installation
Also try clearing the Marketplace cache:
Open Settings.
Select Applications.
Select Manage Applications.
Select Market.
Select Clear cache.
Press the back button (takes you back to list of installed applications).
Select Download Manager.
Select Clear data.
You should now be able to download successfully from the Market.
Different devices compress / decompress the files at different numbers (disk being uncompressed)Base download is 360M (450 on disk)
Then, depending on the compression type the device supports additional space is needed.
DXT adds 74M (e.g. Tegra) (162 on disk)ATC adds 73M (e.g. xperia) (162 on disk)PVR adds 58M (129 on disk) (129 on disk)UNC (uncompressed) adds 95M (341 on disk)
On the device these are decompressed - so the size on the sd card is quite a bit more. We recommend making sure at least 1GB of space is free before downloading GTA III.
