Voice Chat Moderation in GTA Online FAQ

1. What is happening?  

As part of our ongoing efforts to protect our community, we have begun testing voice chat monitoring through Modulate, who provide proactive voice chat moderation for the gaming community. Leveraging this initial testing, we anticipate launching a policy and enforcement approach in 2024. 

2. How is my privacy being protected? 

Protecting our players’ privacy has always been a priority. When necessary for player safety, some audio chat may be securely recorded and retained for a limited period. It will never be sold or rented to third parties.

3. Is friendly trash talk allowed? 

While there is no place in our community for player-to-player harassment, we do allow friendly competitive talk. Our moderation is tuned to the existing Rockstar Games Community Guidelines and takes into consideration conversational and other contexts.
