BattlEye blocking pcapwsp.dll when launching Grand Theft Auto V
Last Updated: October 16, 2024
Question: Whenever I attempt to launch Grand Theft Auto V, I receive the following error. How do I play GTAV?
[INFO] Blocked loading of file: C:\Windows\System32\pcapwsp.dll.
Answer: pcapwsp.dll is a file associated with the ProxyCap software. It is not associated with Windows nor required for its function and will therefore be flagged by BattlEye to prevent potential unauthorized modification to GTA Online gameplay.
You can resolve this issue by updating Windows or using the following methods:
Disable or Uninstall ProxyCap
If you are using ProxyCap, make sure to close the application when playing GTAV or GTA Online.
Perform a Windows File System scan
Performing a Windows File System scan will help Windows detect and fix potentially corrupted files.
Open the Start menu
Type in 'command prompt'
Under Command Prompt, select Run as administrator
Once Command Prompt opens, type 'sfc /scannow' and then press Enter
Let the scan run, detect, and fix any corrupted files
