Slow-down and frame rate drops in GTA for Macs using GeForce 8600GT video cards

Question: Every time it rains in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the frame-rate drops and the game slows down. How can I fix this?

Answer: On systems with GeForce 8600 running the older Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, the game slows down to a low frame-rate when it is raining in GTA SA. This appears to be a 10.5.8 driver issue. To resolve this problem, please upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.5 Snow Leopard.
