Question: What can I do about the following error code when trying to log in to my Rockstar Games account?
An unknown error occured. Please try again later. If the error persists, please visit the Rockstar Support website and stay tuned to the Service Status Updates.
Answer: This error occurs when Rockstar Games cache files are corrupted. You can resolve the issue by deleting your cache settings file, renaming your Rockstar Games folder, and restarting the game using administrator privileges.
Delete Rockstar Games cache settings file:
Navigate to C:\Users[username]\Documents\Rockstar Games\Social Club\Cache
Delete browser_cache_setting.dat
This file will be recreated when you relaunch the game or Rockstar Games Launcher and sign in
If this doesn’t resolve your issue, try renaming the Rockstar Games folder and launching the Rockstar Games Launcher as an admin.
Rename your Rockstar Games folder:
Navigate to:
C:\Users[username]\Documents\Rockstar Games\(or)
OneDrive\Documents\Rockstar Games\
Right-click the Rockstar Games folder, then select Rename
Rename the folder Rockstar Games-OLD
Run as administrator:
Locate and right-click the Rockstar Games Launcher
You can find it by looking under R in your Start Menu, typing it into search, or in the taskbar if you’ve set it as a Desktop Shortcut
Click Run as administrator, then click Yes
Start your game
Accept the cloud save and try to play
