Question: How can I determine which programs might be preventing me from playing the game?

Answer: Depending on your system, a number of programs may be either interfering or preventing the game from running on your PC.  You can test to see which programs might be the offender by shutting down non-windows services during start up and forcing a clean boot of the system.  See the following Microsoft support article on how to perform a clean boot.

When the system reboots, you can attempt to start and play the game.  If the issue you were experiencing is resolved, then one or more of the programs that run during startup are causing conflicts with the game.

To determine which program is causing the issue, repeat the steps in the linked article above - disabling individual programs and testing the game.
