Last Updated: April 29, 2024
Question: Red Dead Redemption 2 crashing intermittently while playing the game. Does adjusting the page file or virtual memory settings help?
Answer: Adjusting the page file or manually configuring how Windows manages virtual memory can result in Red Dead Redemption 2 crashing. Setting windows to automatically manage virtual memory may resolve the cause of these crashes.
NOTE: If you have not adjusted the way your system manages virtual memory you do not need to perform these steps.
Setting Windows to manage Virtual Memory
Open Windows System Properties(Default: Windows Key + Pause / Break Key)
Under the System Properties Advanced Tab select Settings under Performance
Under the Performance Options Tab select the Advanced Tab
Under Virtual Memory select Change
Make sure that Automatically manage paging file size for all drives is checked
Select OK and close all open System Properties Tabs
When prompted, Click Restart Now
