Adding Steam and non-Steam installations to the Rockstar Games Launcher

Last Updated: May 1, 2024

Question: How do I add PC titles that I've purchased on Steam or installed from another location to the Rockstar Games Launcher?

Answer: You can choose to scan your PC for supported installations when first starting up the Rockstar Games Launcher or at a later date under the Settings menu. If you do not scan for installed titles at this time, you may do so at any other time by navigating to Settings > General > Scan PC for supported installs and selecting Scan Now.

Steam Installations:

  • These will be added to the My Library section in the Games hub, update the game and change the Launcher to display Play on Steam.

  • Installation and updates will continue to be managed by the Steam, meaning the Steam client will need to be running to update these titles.

  • Cloud saves from the Rockstar Games Launcher will be available as titles support this feature.

Non-Steam Installations:

  • These will be added to the My Library section in the Games hub, update the game and change the Launcher to display Play on Disk.

Note: Some non-Steam versions of L.A. Noire can only be added to the Rockstar Games Launcher Library by inserting the Activation Key for the game under Redeem Code in the Launcher.
