Finding your lost or misplaced vehicles in Grand Theft Auto Online
Last Updated: April 21, 2026
Question: What can I do if I can’t find a vehicle I own in Grand Theft Auto Online?
Answer: Depending on the type of vehicle, the way you search for or request delivery of it may be different. Below are some places to check if you can’t find your vehicle.
Call the Mechanic
If you know the model of the vehicle you are trying to locate, and are playing in Freemode, you can call the Mechanic from your phone to see if you can have it delivered to you:
Open your phone
Select Contacts
Select Mechanic
Select whether you want to check your Mansions or a specific garage
If you select Mansions, pick the Mansion you want to check
If you select a garage, pick the floor you want to check
Select the Vehicle you want the Mechanic to have delivered
Vehicles will appear near your character (check the map)
Note: The Mechanic will have a 2-minute cooldown between calling vehicles.
Call for the Terrorbyte
The Nightclub garage stores the Terrorbyte in Basement Level 5. You can request delivery of the Terrorbyte by doing the following:
Open the Interaction Menu
Select Services
Select Terrorbyte
Request Terrorbyte
If you have an Oppressor Mk II stored inside the Terrorbyte, you can also request that:
Open the Interaction Menu
Select Services
Select Terrorbyte
Request Oppressor Mk II
Check the Manage Vehicles menu (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)
If you have multiple garages, and are playing in Freemode, you can use Manage Vehicles in the Interaction Menu to help you find and manage vehicles in your garages:
Open the Interaction Menu
Select Manage Vehicles
Select Vehicle Organization
Select the garage you want to check
Scroll through the list to check for your vehicle
If you find your vehicle in one garage, you can move it to another
Select your vehicle
Select the garage you want to move your vehicle to
Select the floor within the garage
Confirm you want to move the vehicle
Call for a Pegasus Vehicle delivery
If you are trying to locate a specialty air or sea vehicle (weaponized vehicles, tanks, planes, boats, etc.) you can call for the delivery of a Pegasus Vehicle:
Open your phone
Select Contacts
Select Pegasus
Select the type of vehicle
Select the make and model of the vehicle you are trying to find
Open your Interaction Menu and select Quick GPS
Select Pegasus Vehicle as a Quick GPS location to find where to pick up your vehicle
Check to see if your insured Vehicle was destroyed
If your vehicle was destroyed and it was insured, you can call Mors Mutual Insurance using the in-game phone to recover it:
Open your phone
Select Contacts
Select Mors Mutual Insurance
Select the vehicle you want to claim
You can select Claim All to claim multiple destroyed vehicles
The claimed vehicle will spawn at a Mors Mutual Insurance depot
Check to see if your Vehicle was impounded
If your vehicle has been impounded, you can recover it in a few different ways:
Travel to the police impound lot on the map and steal the car back (which will trigger a 2-Star wanted level) or walk up to the impound lot and pay GTA$250 to release it
If you are a CEO of a business, you can use the phone to call the Assistant, select the “Recover vehicle from impound” option and pay a GTA$1000 fee to have the vehicle delivered to your location
Check your Mobile Operations Center (MOC)
If you have lost your vehicle while working from the Mobile Operations Center (MOC), the steps in the support article below may help recover it:
