Slow performance issues in GTA III

If you are experiencing Slow Performance or stuttery/jumpy or choppy graphics etc. within the game such as:

1. the character moves slowly2. the graphics are choppy or stuttery3. there is a slowdown of gameplay

Download the two GTA3 PC Patches/updates from here.

Select Options from the games Main Menu screen. Then select Display. Select the following features in the Display options...

• Draw Distance on 3 points

• Frame Sync ON

• Frame Limiter ON

• Trails OFF

• Subtitles ON

• Widescreen OFF

• Screen Resolution 640x480x16

• Then save changes.

Also close background applications by accessing the Windows Task Manager or MSCONFIG.

Carry out a Defrag by clicking on START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES and then SYSTEM TOOLS.

Also ensure Windows is set to manage its own Virtual Memory by clicking on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL and then open the SYSTEM icon. Select Advanced and select the option for "Let Windows Manage its own Virtual Memory".

The user may have to try toggling between turning the Frame Sync and Limiter ON or OFF to receive smooth gameplay, but the above settings should work smoothly. If they do not, make certain that all the latest sound, video and motherboard drivers have been installed.
