Clear your system cache

Temporary files and data are often stored on the console to help the overall performance of the game. Unfortunately, these cached files can get corrupted over time which can lead to things like freezes, game loading errors or connectivity issues. To clear your console’s cache, try the following steps.

On PlayStation 4:

  1. Press and hold the PlayStation button on your controller

  2. Select Turn Off PS4

  3. Let the PlayStation 4 fully power down and wait at least 30 seconds

  4. Restart the PlayStation 4

  5. Hold L1 + R1 while booting up the game

On Xbox One:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the front of the console until the Xbox One completely shuts down

  2. Once the indicator lights on the front of the Xbox One and the console’s power brick are off, disconnect the power brick from the back of your console

  3. Wait at least 30 seconds

  4. Plug the power brick back into your Xbox One and turn it on

  5. Boot up the game

Check your Network Address Translation (NAT) Type settings

A more open NAT Type will have fewer conflicts with other player systems and encounter less connectivity issues.

On PlayStation 4:

NAT Type Settings

  1. Navigate to your console’s home screen

  2. Push up on the left control stick

  3. Navigate to the Settings panel and choose Network

  4. Select Test Internet Connection

  5. After the test is complete, your NAT Type will be on the bottom of the next screen

NAT Type Definitions

  • NAT Type 1: Can play games with any NAT type. Usually the system is connected to the Internet without a router

  • NAT Type 2: Can play games with open or moderate NAT types. Similar to Type 1, except connected to the Internet through a router

  • NAT Type 3: Can only play games with open NAT types

On Xbox One:

NAT Type Setting

  1. Navigate to the System panel and choose Settings

  2. Highlight Network and select Network Settings

    • This should display your NAT Type and connection type

    • A more open NAT Type will have fewer conflicts with other player systems and encounter less connectivity issues with other players

NAT Type Definitions

  • OPEN NAT Type: Can play games with any NAT type

  • MODERATE NAT Type: Can play games with open or moderate NAT types

  • STRICT NAT Type: Can only play games with open NAT types

Note: If the NAT Type shows as Unknown, Click Test NAT Type
