Grand Theft Auto Online save data could not be loaded from the Rockstar cloud servers on PC

Last Updated: June 17, 2024

Question: What can I do about the following alert when attempting to launch GTA Online on PC?

  • Alert: Your save data could not be loaded from the Rockstar cloud servers at this time. Returning to Grand Theft Auto V

Answer: This error occurs whenever there’s an issue retrieving your latest GTA Online character save data and should resolve on its own. If the error continues, try these steps:

Deleting your local profile details from your PC

  1. Open the Rockstar Games Launcher

  2. Select Settings

  3. Under My installed games, select Grand Theft Auto V

  4. Make sure Enable cloud saves is checked

  5. Under Launcher settings, select Account information

  6. Next to Delete local profile, select Delete

  7. Select Confirm

  8. After your profile is deleted, sign back into the Rockstar Games Launcher and launch Grand Theft Auto V

Note: This will remove all profile details from your local device and require you to sign in to the Rockstar Games Launcher again. It will not delete your Rockstar Games account or any saved games. Signing in to the Rockstar Games Launcher will recreate your local profile.

Verify your game files

Rockstar Games Launcher

  1. Sign in to the Rockstar Games Launcher

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Select the game you wish to verify from the list under My installed games on the left

  4. Select Verify Integrity under Verify game file integrity from the options

Upon completion, a pop-up message will appear above the system tray stating that your game is verified and ready to play.
