Blurry or pixelated graphics with trails when playing Vice City on PS3
Last Updated: June 13, 2023
Question: I downloaded Vice City from PSN as a PS2 Classic. The graphics seems more pixelated and blurry on my particular setup than I remember. What settings should I change to adjust how the graphics look?
Answer: Here are some options that can be used to adjust PS3 upscaling and graphics options. For a PS2 classic on PS3, try experimenting with different output resolutions and settings to optimize the display for your particular TV:
Output Resolution: From the PS3 XMB (System Menu), go to Settings->Display Settings and change the output resolution. Sometimes for standard definition games, outputting at a lower resolution will result in a smoother look.
Smoothing: When in-game, press the PS button and chose Other Settings-->Smoothing. Try playing with and without smoothing to see which you prefer. This setting can also be accessed through Settings->Game Settings in the XMB.
Upscaling Settings: When in-game, press the PS button and choose Off and Normal to see which looks best on your particular screen. If you want to use Full Screen on a widescreen TV, be sure to also press also turn Widescreen ON from the in-game display settings found in the pause menu. This setting can also be accessed through Settings->Game Settings in the XMB.
Trails: If you prefer to play without motion blur trails, press Start and go to Display. Turn Trials off.
