Last Updated: March 5, 2024
My PSP game is having problems, what can I do to try and fix this?
Please try the following general steps to try and fix your problem with this game:
Check the UMD for any physical damage, ensure that the spindle inside the UMD allows the inner disk to rotate freely.
- If possible clean the UMD with a soft cloth being careful not to damage the inner disc. 2) Play another game on your PSP for 30 minutes to ensure the problem is not related to the PSP unit.
Install the latest firmware for the PSP. You will be able to get this by visiting the following website :
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/system-updates/psp/
You may also be able to update the firmware from the UMD by doing the following :
- Connect the PSP to the power supply - Load the PSP without a UMD inside, then go to "Game" --> "Firmware Update" - Follow the instructions on screen
Note : The firmware on the UMD might not be the latest, check on the website to see if this is the case.
Ensure you have the PSP firmware correctly updated. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Load the PSP without a UMD inside, then go to "System"--> "System Information" - This will show your version of PSP firmware, check that it is the latest version with the website above
Try turning off 'Parental Controls' on the PSP, do the following :
- Load the PSP without the UMD. From the menu goto 'System' --> 'Security Settings' --> 'Parental Control Level' and Press O - Enter the 4 digit password code. This is either set when you purchased the PSP (Check your manual) or is the default 0-0-0-0 code. - When the correct password is entered, you have an option of levels, change this to 'Off'
Check the saved games on the PSP to ensure they have not become corrupted:
- Load the PSP without the UMD. From the menu goto 'Game' --> 'Saved Game Utility'. - Check this game in your list of saved games and ensure this does not show as 'CORRUPTED DATA'. - If the data is corrupted, try deleting it and replaying the game. If further problems persist contact Sony regarding the PSP memory card.
