Controller Support for Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on Mac

Last Updated: December 28, 2023

Question: Can I play GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas on my Mac using a controller?

Answer: The Macintosh Grand Theft Auto games support Keyboard and Mouse input only.  However, most third-party gamepads and controllers will allow you to map keyboard and mouse functions to the the buttons on the controller.

Sony and Microsoft controllers may work on a computer, provided you have successfully installed drivers that allow you to map mouse/keyboard commands to the controller.  If you have a controller and the game is not recognizing the inputs, or you are having trouble locating the proper drivers, we recommend contacting the controller manufacturer or using an Internet search engine on the name of the device plus "grand theft auto" or "GTA mac" to find setup steps used by other players with the same device.
