Question: What can I do about the following error code when trying to buy in-game items in Rockstar Games titles?

  • Transaction failed because inventory or price data is invalid. Please reboot the game to refresh the game catalog and try again. 

Answer: You can try verifying your game files and temporarily disabling your antivirus or firewall to resolve this issue. 

Verify game files  

You can verify your game files using the methods associated with your respective launcher below: 

Rockstar Games Launcher 

  1. Sign in to the Rockstar Games Launcher 

  2. Select Settings 

  3. Select the game you wish to verify from the list under My installed games on the left 

  4. Select Verify Integrity under Verify game file integrity from the options on the right 

Upon completion, a pop-up message will appear above the system tray stating that your game is verified and ready to play.

Temporarily disable antivirus and firewall 

  1. Open the Windows start menu and select the Settings gear  

  2. Select Update & Security  

  3. Select Windows Security  

  4. Select Virus & threat protection  

  5. Select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions  

  6. Select Add an exclusion, and then select the folder where the Rockstar Games Launcher is installed  

    • Default location: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher  

If you are not using Windows Defender, refer to your program documentation on how you can add programs or folders as an exception for your antivirus and/or firewall.
