Incorrect verification code Error #0.200.4 on Rockstar Games sign in
Last Updated: January 15, 2025
Question: When trying to sign in to Rockstar Games I get then following error after putting in the 2-Step Verification code from my Authenticator. "Incorrect verification code submitted. Please re-enter the correct code from your authenticator app into the Verification code field. #0.200.4" How can I resolve this?
Answer: This error can occur if the code entered was incorrect, expired or if the Authenticator device has changed.
To troubleshoot please try the following steps in order:
Try to enter the code again
- Make sure the 2-Step Verification Code has not expired and is entered exactly as you see it on your Authenticator
Check to make sure that your Authenticator is synchronized with the 2-Step Verification Service
If you are receiving an error that your 2-Step Authentication failed, there is a chance that the authenticator you are using has become desynchronized with the 2-Step Verification service.
- Ensure that your clock on your authenticator app / machine is set to the correct local time, date, and time zone
- Enable any time sync settings on your authenticator app / program
On Android using Google Authenticator:
- Go to the main menu on the Google Authenticator app
- Select Settings
- Select Time correction for codes
- Select Sync now
- On the next screen, the app will confirm that the time has been synced, and you should now be able to use your verification codes to sign in
Note: The sync will only affect the internal time of your Google Authenticator app, and will not change your device’s Date & Time settings.
On iOS:
- Open the Settings app of your iPhone home screen
- Select General
- Select Date & Time
- Disable Set Automatically Option and re-enable again
- Reboot your device
Authenticator sync settings:
- If your authenticator has an option to sync the clock, make sure it is enabled. Check the support documentation for your chosen authenticator app for additional information
Android / Windows phones:
- These devices have an option in their settings to allow them to correct for time errors. Check the support documentation for your chosen authenticator app for additional information
iOS devices / phones:
- Ensure that these devices have the “Set Automatically” option turned on under the Date & Time setting to make sure that the clock is properly synced
If you are using a new Authenticator device, make sure to transfer your 2-Step Verification to the new Authenticator
You can move your 2-Step Verification to a new Authentication Device by following the steps below:
- Log into your Rockstar Games account
- Click your account avatar
- Click Settings from the drop-down menu
- Navigate to the 2-Step Verification tab
- Under 2-Step Verification Device, Select Remove
Once you have selected a 2-Step Verification app, you can set it up using the following steps:
- Ensure you have an authenticator app on an accessible mobile device or added to your browser
- Log into your Rockstar Games account
- Go to Settings, choose the ‘2-Step Verification’ tab, and click on ‘Setup’
- Scan the QR code that appears on the page using your authenticator app or option in your browser - If you are unable to scan the QR code, a Secret Key option is also available.
