Question: My rank has been reset to 1 in Max Payne 3 -- help!
Answer: We have received several reports from players who report that their Multiplayer progress has been reset on or around 10/7/12, and we are looking into this now. If you would like to receive an automatic email notification as soon as there is more information, please log into the Support Site and click Subscribe at the top of this page. Subscribing to this article will ensure that you stay in the loop as we investigate.
Note: This article relates to players who previously had Multiplayer progress saving correctly over a long period of time. If your rank is reset to level 1 every time you power off the console, and you have never successfully had any Multiplayer progress save, that is a different issue suggesting failure to write to our Cloud servers. That issue may be resolved through network troubleshooting: http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/21534493-being-reset-to-le...
Update for 10/18/12: We have restored the save files of players affected by the stat reset as of 9AM Eastern (GMT-5) on Thursday, October 18th, 2012. We are aware of a possible issue where players who were actively playing Max Payne 3 when the restoration occurred might not have their ranks restored.
Update for 10/25/12: We have received a number of tickets from players who were not restored during the first round of fixes. These have been compiled and we will be working over the next week to restore multiplayer progress for the affected accounts of players who submitted tickets with the account information. Please stay tuned to this article for all updates.
