Question: Does L.A. Noire support Windows 8?
Answer: The disc and non-Steam digital version of L.A. Noire supports Windows 8 as of the patch on 11/14/12. If you are using the Steam version, your game will be automatically updated by the Steam client and you do not need to use the manual link on this page. For other versions, the game should prompt you to update the next time you launch when connected to the Internet.
Please note that disc-based or non-Steam-digital players attempting to install L.A. Noire for the first time in Windows 8 may need to apply the latest update manually. For more information along with manual links to the patch and the latest version of the required Social Club application, see:

Also ensure that you have installed all of the latest Microsoft updates to Windows 8, including .NET 3.5 updates and all of the required updates that have the format "Update for Windows 8 (KBXXXXXXX)." To check for updates, go to:
Control Panel->Systems and Security->Windows Update->Check for Updates->Select Updates to Install. Place a checkmark next to each item and then click Install in the lower-left of the window. After completing the updates, be sure to repeat the process until there are no important updates found. Some updates may not become available until other updates have been successfully installed. Another possibility is that the computer does not have access to C:\Users\Default User. Try double-clicking that path to see if access is denied. If so, try making sure you have administrative rights on your computer.
If you have completed all of the above steps and are still experiencing a crash back to desktop at launch, please follow the L.A. Noire crash troubleshooting steps found here:
