Question: I downloaded the PC version of L.A. Noire from Steam and I can't launch the game!  When I try to run the game from the launcher it brings me back to the launcher in an endless loop, or sometimes it crashes altogether after appearing to re-perform part of the setup.  How can I fix this?

Answer: In Windows Vista/7, it may be necessary to turn off UAC (User Account Control) and/or run Steam as an Admin.

Turn off UAC:

• Open Control Panel
• Select User Accounts
• Select 'Change User Account Control Settings'
• Change the slider to Never Notify

• Locate the Steam Shortcut on your desktop or within your start menu.
• Right Click on the shortcut and select 'Run as Administrator'
